![]() In actuality it takes about 500ms per iteration. I hear Windows has some kind of rate limits on ping, so maybe that's it. Not sure why my 150ms timeout isn't respected as far as speed of execution of the ping command. My batch script just does a pipe to FIND looking for "Reply" and so only prints the Reply lines of hosts that don't time out: ping -n 1 -w 150 192.168.%%i.%%z | FIND /i "Reply" No idea why both scanners are telling me these hosts are alive. Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss), If I just use ping from cmd without any parameters, I get exactly what you'd expect from a non-existent host (actual copy and paste from cmd window, down to the hanging comma): ping 192.168.168.15 Maybe there is a fix for this or an alternative IP scanner that works well on Windows? I'd really just like AngryIP scanner to work again and stop telling me timed out hosts are alive and to still function if my laptop wakes from sleep. I got so fed up with it that I currently use a batch file instead, but even that takes a really long time (121 seconds for the same IP range), even with the -w option set to 100ms. Finally, if my computer ever goes to sleep, AngryIP Scanner stops working (starting a scan just sits there doing nothing) until I reboot. Additionally, no matter what value I put for the ping timeout, it always seems to wait quite a long time, making scanning 250 ip addresses with 250 threads take over 17 seconds. For the past while now, AngryIP scanner has been erroniously reporting all hosts alive, even though they clearly timed out and do not exist. I have Windows 10, probably will be on 11 in the near future and I often need to scan IP ranges to find living hosts. u/RoweDent created this awesome resource on network theory u/tht1kidd_ has created a suggestion post regarding information everyone needs to provide when asking a question about their network There have been some excellent guides written in this sub, and we're always looking for more!
